MOSCOW, Dec 27 (PRIME) -- The Russian economy will expand by 4.4% in 2021 and by 2.5% in 2022, Sberbank’s research department said in a statement on Monday.

"Under the estimate of the Center for Macroeconomic Research, the gross domestic product (GDP) will increase by 4.4% in 2021 after falling by 3% a year earlier," the statement read.

According to the report, the growth can be attributed to active easing of the COVID restrictions and fast recovery after a 2020 decline.

The recovery period is to stop in 2022, the monetary policy can become stricter, and the budget policy can become normal.

November nflation is estimated at 8.4%, but it can fall to 4.5% by the end of 2022.
